FAQ
What happens to my CSV when I refresh?
It's gone. Every builder session starts clean — refresh the page and the builder resets to a blank slate, ready for the next prototype. Nothing is kept.
How do free builds work?
Anyone can upload a CSV, design a dashboard, and see the live preview. Anonymous visitors get 2 free builds, tracked by IP and browser. After that, create a free account to keep building and previewing.
Why can't I download files for free?
Building and previewing are free. The generated files — real, working .twb, .twbx, and .pbit — are the product, and every download needs an active paid plan. Plans start at $5/month.
What is a pbit file?
A .pbit is a Power BI template file. It carries the full report layout, data model, and (in our case) your embedded CSV data. Open it in Power BI Desktop and it behaves like a ready-made report.
pbit vs pbix — what's the difference?
A .pbit is the template; a .pbix is the saved report file. Open your LiteKPI .pbit in Power BI Desktop, click File → Save, and you have your .pbix.
Do you output .pbix files directly?
No — and nobody generating files outside Power BI Desktop honestly can. We generate a ready-to-open .pbit. Opening it in Desktop and saving produces your .pbix in one step.
twb vs twbx — what's the difference?
A .twb is the workbook definition only; a .twbx is a packaged workbook with the data bundled inside. LiteKPI gives you both. For sharing or opening anywhere, use the .twbx.
How do I open a .pbit in Power BI Desktop?
Double-click the downloaded .pbit (or File → Open in Desktop). The report opens with your CSV data already embedded. Then File → Save to keep it as a .pbix.
How do I swap the CSV for my real database?
Both platforms support this natively. Tableau: Data → Replace Data Source. Power BI: Transform data → Data source settings → change the source, then map to your table. The CSV is just the prototyping medium — your layout, KPI cards, and charts stay.
Does the demo data load automatically?
No. Nothing loads until you click "Use demo data." That button loads the Superstore sample so you can try the full flow without a CSV of your own.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your account page; your plan runs to the end of the paid period. No lock-in, no cancellation fee.
How do Enterprise seats work?
Enterprise is $15 per user per month (or $171 per user annually). The account owner gets an admin console and adds teammates by email — each email added uses one purchased seat. Every seat gets unlimited downloads.
How does the annual discount work?
Pay yearly, save 5%: Solo $57/yr, Pro $171/yr, Enterprise $171 per user/yr.
What happens when I use all 6 Solo downloads?
Your 6 downloads refresh at the start of each calendar month. Need more now? Upgrade to Pro for unlimited downloads — the upgrade applies immediately.
